I'm an artist, working in ceramics and painting, living in Littleton, Colorado.
My love of throwing clay pots on a wheel began with a university course in 1997, with an output that was chunky and graceless, but a fair start, nonetheless. I didn't touch clay again until 2015, while living on California's rugged, north coast - a place whose natural beauty inspired my creativity, and humbled me every day. I took an introductory class at a community center near my home in Arcata. This time, the fascination took hold, and I haven't looked back. I started to show and sell my work in 2018 - a direction that hadn't even occurred to me as little as one year prior. I work in porcelain, high fire stoneware, and stoneware blended with native clay. The necessary balance and centering intrinsic to wheel-throwing has brought those same features to my life, with a sense of fulfillment and greater purpose. I am very grateful to be able to do what I do! -Dominic DiMauro |
